Dietetic Interns

Contemporary Nutrition works with distance programs to establish supervised internships, nutrition and dietetic programs that include job shadowing, class projects, and outreach or research programs.

Each year, we accept several interns from different Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) Didactic Programs.  Contracts with the schools are established in the spring.  Students majoring in Dietetics and want to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) must complete 1200 hours supervised practice experience after completing a Bachelor of Science Degree.  The supervised practice experience is called a “Dietetic Internship”, which works much like a residency.  Each student completes rotations in all areas of dietetics practice and completes competencies in each of these areas.  These rotations are accredited supervised practice programs that meet certain requirements.
